A Wakeo predictive ETA is not a customer delivery commitment
Wakeo presents multimodal shipment tracking, predictive ETAs, and exception monitoring. A predicted arrival can improve coordination, but it does not by itself revise an order promise, carrier obligation, inventory availability date, appointment, production plan, or customer commitment.

Keep the estimate and the promise in separate fields
Wakeo's public page supports a straightforward product description: the platform presents tracking and predictive arrival information across multimodal freight. That can give planners and customer teams earlier notice than a static booking record. It does not mean the latest predicted timestamp should automatically overwrite the date promised to a customer, the requested delivery date, a dock appointment, a production sequence, or a contractual service measure.
The operating record should retain each date with its meaning and owner: requested, acknowledged, planned, carrier scheduled, predicted, appointment, available, delivered, and customer-committed. It should preserve the timestamp, time zone, source, confidence or status, model or rule version, and reason for change. When two systems use the same label for different events, integration mapping should resolve the semantic difference before the date drives downstream action.
Trace what the ETA actually observed
A prediction is only as useful as the shipment identity and events behind it. Buyers should test booking changes, rolled sailings, transshipment, missing pings, partial loads, split containers, port congestion, customs holds, rail handoffs, drayage, weekend calendars, final-mile appointments, and cases in which a carrier event arrives late or out of sequence. The record should show which milestone changed the prediction and whether the underlying shipment remained correctly matched.
Coverage should be measured by the population the business actually ships, not a generic mode list. Segment accuracy and latency by trade lane, carrier, port, mode, leg, event type, horizon, and exception class. Compare predicted timestamps with the precise actual milestone they are meant to forecast. An arrival at port, discharge, terminal availability, gate-out, warehouse receipt, and proof of delivery are different events and should not be scored as interchangeable.
Give exception owners rules for changing commitments
A material ETA movement should create a decision, not only an alert. The workflow should identify who assesses inventory cover, customer priority, production dependency, appointment capacity, demurrage risk, expediting options, alternative routes, and communication timing. Thresholds may differ by product, customer, lane, or consequence. Suppression and escalation rules should be visible so repeated model movements do not produce alert fatigue or contradictory messages.
If an owner changes a customer promise, the record should cite the supporting ETA, current operational facts, options considered, approver, affected orders, message sent, and any later revision. Customer-facing channels should distinguish estimate from commitment and avoid presenting model precision that the evidence does not support. The same control protects internal planning: a predicted date can inform allocation and production without silently becoming authoritative inventory availability.
Backtest decisions as well as prediction error
An evaluation should score more than average ETA error. Measure coverage, event freshness, milestone integrity, stability, early-warning lead time, false escalations, missed exceptions, planner effort, promise-change frequency, customer-message consistency, and the consequences of decisions taken. Review a stable lane, a disrupted lane, a multimodal handoff, a shipment with sparse data, and a split or consolidated movement. Preserve model changes so performance before and after a revision remains interpretable.
Wakeo's registered official record establishes current provider positioning, not a reader's configured carrier coverage, prediction accuracy, commitment policy, exception ownership, integration semantics, or service outcome. Procurement and operating teams should test representative shipments and difficult exceptions with logistics, planning, customer-service, commercial, and data owners. The technology can improve visibility without becoming the authority that decides what the business promises.

Translate this change into the exact population, record type, workflow stage, decision owner, effective date, and evidence that could be affected. Ask current or prospective providers to demonstrate the named workflow with representative data and an exception—not a polished feature tour. Record what official documentation establishes, what a provider states, what the team observes, and what remains unresolved.
A defensible review also identifies the dependency outside the product. Authority interpretation, policy configuration, data quality, integrations, human judgment, approval rights, release governance, training, and retained evidence may remain customer or service responsibilities. The evaluation should preserve those boundaries instead of treating a technology claim as the complete operating model.
