Prewave presents multi-tier supply-chain mapping and risk intelligence. A usable dependency record still has to connect the named legal entities, supplying sites, part or material, product or program, relationship basis, observation date, confidence, exception, and accountable validation.

Define what the sub-tier link is supposed to mean
Prewave's official page supports the narrow statement that the platform addresses multi-tier mapping and risk intelligence. The operating answer is that a visible link between two organizations is not yet a product dependency. A relationship might describe corporate ownership, an observed trade connection, a supplier declaration, a shared location, an inferred upstream path, or a current commercial flow. Each interpretation leads to a different decision and requires different evidence.
For every material link, retain the buyer entity, direct supplier, upstream legal entity, operating site, part or material, product or program, tier, relationship direction, source class, observation date, effective period, confidence or review status, and the person who accepted it for use. Preserve aliases, parent-subsidiary mappings, site identifiers, mergers, and disputed relationships. A corporate-level connection should not silently become evidence that a specific plant supplies a specific component into the buyer's current bill of material.
Connect network intelligence to the affected product path
A sub-tier record becomes operationally useful when teams can trace it to a real dependency: the item, site, source arrangement, production step, logistics node, qualification status, inventory buffer, alternative source, and customer or program consequence. Without that path, a broadly connected company can look critical even when the observed relationship does not touch the buyer's product. The opposite failure is also possible when a small site-specific dependency disappears inside an entity-level map.
Start with a representative finished product and move upstream through the controlled bill of material, approved supplier records, site qualifications, purchase history, supplier disclosures, and other permitted evidence. Mark where the chain is confirmed, inferred, contradicted, stale, or unknown. The workflow should retain the source and reasoning for each link instead of converting a mixed-evidence network into a binary supplier-present flag. Product engineering, procurement, quality, logistics, and continuity owners may each hold a different part of the record.
Use risk signals to open a bounded validation case
A risk event associated with an upstream entity or location should open a case against the mapped dependency, not automatically establish disruption or trigger a supplier decision. The case needs the event source, event time, affected geography or entity, mapped site, relevant item or process, expected exposure window, available inventory, alternate paths, supplier confirmation, and decision owner. Monitoring, scoring, due diligence, and action remain separate states even when one platform supports all four.
Test an event near a supplier but outside the operating site, a parent-company event with no product impact, a supplier denial, two sources that describe different locations, a changed corporate name, an expired relationship, and an upstream site shared across several products. Reviewers should be able to correct the map without erasing prior evidence, record why a case was closed, and distinguish no verified impact from no exposure. A high-priority visualization should not bypass accountable product, sourcing, quality, safety, or customer decisions.
Keep the official claim and buyer evidence separate
The Prewave page establishes current official positioning for supply-chain intelligence, including multi-tier visibility and related monitoring and due-diligence workflows. It does not establish a buyer's complete supply network, the correctness of an inferred relationship, the continued operation of a site, the effect of an event, supplier performance, or a mitigation outcome. Buyers should confirm data sources, update cadence, entity resolution, site resolution, confidence representation, correction handling, historical versions, and exportability in the proposed scope.

No dated material development after the August 29 successful-publication cutoff was verified, so this is durable operating analysis rather than a current-intelligence event. A controlled evaluation should begin with a known product dependency and a known false or stale link, then show how the platform represents both, how people challenge them, and what evidence survives into a sourcing or continuity decision.

Translate this change into the exact population, record type, workflow stage, decision owner, effective date, and evidence that could be affected. Ask current or prospective providers to demonstrate the named workflow with representative data and an exception—not a polished feature tour. Record what official documentation establishes, what a provider states, what the team observes, and what remains unresolved.
A defensible review also identifies the dependency outside the product. Authority interpretation, policy configuration, data quality, integrations, human judgment, approval rights, release governance, training, and retained evidence may remain customer or service responsibilities. The evaluation should preserve those boundaries instead of treating a technology claim as the complete operating model.
